About
Augusta Fashion & Textiles is a brand that celebrates and showcases the value and beauty of slow fashion, upcycling, and the handmade. We sell high-quality one-of-a-kind garments designed and made in Alberta by Creative Director and Founder, Maria Augusta. Our designs use various textile design techniques for both up-cycled and original garments.

Mission
Our mission is to subvert the ever more present and serious issues, both ethically and environmentally, that exist in the fashion sector. We strive to use art and design as a media that allows for healing and that has the potential to make the world a better place.
Vision
Our purpose is to provide customers with locally made, high-quality, and well designed artisanal clothing.

About the designer
Maria Augusta is a textile artist and fashion designer. Her work exists at the intersection of art and fashion, considering how clothing can be designed for “being” rather than “having.” After studying at the Alberta University of Arts (BFA) in Calgary, Alberta & Polimoda (Masters of Fashion Collection Design) in Florence, Italy and various work opportunities across the globe, Maria returned to her hometown of Amiskwacîwâskahikan, Treaty 6 Territory (Edmonton, Alberta) to pursue her independent practice and founded Augusta Fashion & Textiles. Under the Augusta brand, Maria crafts garments that emphasize agency, personal-identity, and story-telling. Her design practices strive to break down boundaries and represent a fashion narrative that embraces the fluidity of self-expression.
Maria’s work has been featured in international publications including VOGUE Italia, VOGUE México y Latinoamérica, Photobook Sustainable Fashion Magazine, VADAMagazine, Elle Décor, and Italy’s leading art magazine, Artribune. She has also collaborated with renowned Italian luxury brands such as Loro Piana and Fendi.
In addition to fashion and textile design, Maria collaborates with local artists, designers, and craftspeople establishing multidisciplinary showcases to grow the creative community and highlight fashion as an integral artistic platform. Under the Augusta brand, Maria also prioritizes creating development opportunities for other up-and-coming designers in her local community.
